“I would be in bed at night, tearfully asking God to help me stay sober.” I thought to myself, “How did I get to this point. I don’t want to die a drug-using alcoholic.” After nearly twenty years of daily drinking, I was hopeless.
This went on for nearly three more years for the Author, S. Keith Barnes, praying nightly for help. When he hit his bottom, he landed in Alcoholics Anonymous. In AA he found what he was looking for, many people willing to help him find hope as they had found. It was though God had led him to AA, and AA led him back to God, and to a personal relationship with God in Christ Jesus.
In his book, “Under The Influence” , he lays out for readers how he learned from his sponsor and many other helpful people in AA, a program designed to help those in recovery stay sober one day at a time. The simple program inside this book reveals how reading one page a day can play a major roll in one’s living a life of sobriety.
